Granite Sink Installation
You can install a granite sink easily if you can segregate all the task in some step. It will be more helpful to do it perfectly with minimum time. Regarding the task, we can discuss four specific steps.
Even to accomplish all these steps you need different tools. We also discuss it step by step. Let’s take a look at it.
- Faucet Drilling
- Sink Type: if it is Drop-in
- Sink Type: if it is undermount
- Drain Installation
From the steps, you can easily imagine which types of work you are going to do in these steps.
1. Faucet Drilling
First of all, check the countertop. If it is already cut down according to the dimension of the sink, then it’s alright if not then cut it. There are two types of material you will need to complete this step and these two tools are.
- Drill machine
- 35mm Diamond Drill Bit
If you are installing the drop-in sink, then you can easily drill from both sides of the hole of the faucet. It also depends on the need and which side you need to hole.
Now attach the 35mm diamond drill bit with the drill machine. If you are determined about the location, then start drilling and make a hole for the faucet. In some granite sink, there are pre-marking for the faucet hole. You can also drill on this location which is common for uses.
2. Sink Type: if it is Drop-in
It is the second step for you if you perfectly drilled the hole for the faucet. There are three types of tools you need to complete this step and these are.
- Damp Cloth
- Pencil
- Silicon
Check the sink is perfect or not for the cutout. For this, you need to lower the sink into the cutout. After sitting the sink bowl inside the counter, then the parameter of the sink rim must be connected with the counter.
Now remove the sink. Around the parameter, the seal strips need to be placed. In some cases, seal strips are not available for the sink. You can also use the bead of silicon for the same purpose. Now place the sink again carefully.
Press the sink slightly into the seal. After pressing it the sink will be levelled. It also needs to be aligned. Take a dump cloth and clean all the excess sealant from the surface. There are some mountain brackets that need to tighten the sink. Underside the sink you will need to do this.
3. Sink Type: if it is undermount
if you want to install undermount granite sink, then this step is for you. For that, you need exact same tools that are needed for installing the drop-in sink.
Now take the sink and place it into the cutout on the counter. Notice the faucet hole is in the position while you are placing the sink. There will be some spaces for the bolt.
Now specify the position where you need to place it on the countertop. Draw an outline on it. After you finish the drawing remove the sink from the countertop.
The silicone and apply it around the sink rim. Now take the sink again and place it. When you are doing this you have to be careful. Try to position it perfectly within the outline. There are some sink clips available. Attaché all these clips of the bracket which will be placed against the sink lip.
Take the bolts and screw it and make it tighten. You are done with the installation of undermount sink. Now you have to turn the counter and sink over. If there are is any excess silicon is available, then remove it using a cloth and mineral. The silicon needs some time to dry. Wait for it and you are done.
4. Drain Installation
this is the last step of the final installation process. You need a basin wrench to accomplish this task. For this, you need to disassemble the sink drain.
If it is hard to remember the disassembly process, then put all the things on the floor exact same way you disassembled. Take the cure silicon and bead it underside of the strainer body.
Now the body you sealant insert into the kitchen sink. Create a proper seal by just pressing the flange which needs to go under the drain hole. Take a dump cloth and clean the excess sealant.
Slide the rubber washer according to the friction washer which you will find underneath the sink. Hold the strainer cap and press it. In the strainer body, there is a lock nut.
Thread this nut very well and make sure that it is tightened enough. For this, you need a basin wrench. Some people break and crack the sink trying to secure it.
